Electric Showers.
Electric showers are often cheaper
to buy but more expensive to fit than other types.
An electric shower uses cold water at mains pressure and heats it to provide
a comfortable temperature and flow rate at the shower head.
The advantage of an electric shower is that it only requires
a cold mains water supply to work and all houses have this.
The disadvantage of an electric
shower is that it needs its own dedicated
electrical supply which is taken straight from the consumer unit.
The regulations for the electrical supply may have changed
since the existing shower was installed. If the shower needs replacing it may
also be necessary to change the existing wiring and this can be expensive.
Electric showers often have an
annoyingly slow flow rate.
As they get older the temperature control can get worse
resulting in the shower being too hot or too cold.
Electric showers are generally not as good as thermostatic showers.
