What is a Thermostatic Mixer Shower?

Thermostatic mixer showers control the temperature of the water at the shower head
by blending the hot and cold water supplies.
They are safe to use and avoid the possibility of scalding and skin burns
that may result from the use of manual mixer showers.
There is a maximum temperature setting which prevents people
accidentally making the shower too hot to use safely.
If someone else in the property runs some water while you are in the shower
the change in pressure is detected and the thermostatic valve will
adjust automatically to keep the temperature at the shower head stable.
If the cold supply is shut off, the shower will stop working.
This prevents only hot water coming out of the shower, which would be dangerous.

The flow rate through a thermostatic mixer shower will depend
on the type of water system which you have.
Some thermostatic mixers are specially designed to work with low pressure systems
or high pressure systems. Some will work with any type of water system, including
a combination boiler. If the flow rate with a low pressure system is too low
a pump can be added to increase the pressure and produce a power shower.

The advantages of a thermostatic mixer shower
make it the best one to use when compared with other types.
